Age limit for the server.

I suggest we get an age limit for the server. We have struggled hard with trying to teach small kids how to behave, without any luck. That is their mothers job, not ours. So i suggest we get an age limit of 10 - 11. just to save us a lot of work.

How would know for sure how old they are? I think behavior is the best indicator of whether or not people should be allowed on the server. If people behave badly, no matter their age, give them the boot! :-)

I think maybe we should have some system that when they log on for the first time it asks them how old they are ? Like the male and female system....if they are under the set age limit then perhaps they get booted ? with an appropriate reason

Also, I am an adult and don't typically make a big deal about my age to avoid the creep factor. I don't like to answer when people ask about it. It can be awkward at times since Minecraft is popular with kids. My adult gamer friends don't seem to care much for Minecraft but I love it.

End of discussion guys. Minecraft is for ALL ages, if someone is being annoying just KICK 'EM! Some kids are mature, some aren't, just like adults. You shouldn't have to be a certain age for a creative game such as Minecraft! Geez.

OK let me answer you guys on why to have an age limit. EVERY day the staff members are struggling with kids spamming us with weird questions and bad grammar. A normal sentence is "WHY do i has to red all the sign at spawn???????" We are getting a little annoyed by this and an age limit would spare us for a lot of noob griefers and explaining. Some kids just dont understand how to behave online in general and it is not our job to teach them that. Its their parents job. So heres my sggestion.Lets make an application system. Thats right. People need to apply at the forums in a specific thread in order to get build rights. We tell them to say their age, minecraft name, experience from former servers and to post some pics of their work. Nothing big just small. We say nothing about the age limit, because then they will see no harm in telling their age. + Their grammar tells us a lot about their age on forehand.

I always thought people had to sign up to the forums anyhow or at least they used to. This would give that some teeth!
It would also help with communicaiton because maybe people would read the forums more. All the rules could be posted here, etc.
So many things get announced here but people playing on the server don't always seem to know about stuff.
Heck, I pop in here everyday prior to joining the server.

That's a good point to have current rules posted here. Even if we have a map change there would be no reason they couldn't read them here. Hmmmm maybe we should be planning and posting events also. SERVER WAR! j/k =)

Perhaps the problem here is NOT age, but rather INTELLECT. Age is a blurry, grey line, while intellect is a nice line plot graph. Perhaps we should have a logic test, followed by a spelling test at spawn?
